Crossing the Line
Characters
Raina
Wade,
a beautiful, smart and sassy sister who is about to discover what it means to be
in the wrong place, at the wrong time…Returning from the ladies room a hit man
is at work, killing his intended victim, plus two others. Raina is caught smack
dab in the midst of it and the hit man realizes he has a witness. In fear and
panic, Raina escapes making a beeline to the police station. Her life is now in
jeopardy and protecting Raina Wade becomes priority number one for the
Pittsburgh PD, after all, her uncle is none other than the current Chief of
Detectives, Max Coleman.
Detective Nicholas Laprelli is no stranger to hard work. But lately, he’s
been off his game…he’s still grieving the unsolved murder of his best friend.
He’s just been assigned to escort Raina Wade to her father…in Seattle,
Washington. He doesn’t want to do it, but his superiors know that Nick is a
ticking time bomb. Getting Nick out of town is just the ticket.
Raina
immediately dislikes the White, detective who’d confused her as one of the
prostitutes in the police station. Incensed by his comments, the sparks fly
when she learns he’s been assigned as her bodyguard. But that doesn’t mean she
has to like him or the situation…and Nick Laprelli feels the same about the
pampered princess wannabe.
On a
cross country trip, Nick and Raina dip and dodge to stay one-step ahead of a
killer who is hot on their trail. They encounter narrow-minded bigotry and
detours along the way. To remain safe and often in close confines, they find
solace in each other, that is, once they stop fighting long enough and admit,
begrudgingly their mutual attraction. |
