Regrets are a part of life and, hopefully, a person will have an opportunity to correct the mistakes one makes before it’s too late. This is the premise at the heart of Layton’s novel, and it may bring tears to your eyes. This taut, heartfelt story is very satisfying. The murder mystery is well crafted and the romance is equally well done.

Identical twins Corinne and Charlene have been estranged for 10 years but have independently decided to reconnect with each other. Corinne seems to have it all — a wealthy husband, two loving children, etc. The day the sisters reconnect, one of them ends up dead and the other in a coma. Because of the extent of her physical injuries, Charlene is mistaken for Corinne. She decides to keep up the pretense in order to find out who killed her sister and why. Add Corinne’s estranged husband, Tyler, to the mix as he and Charlene find themselves falling in love. (GENESIS/INDIGO, Mar., 368 pp., $6.99)

CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE |3+| Marguerite Lemons

REVIEW: Charlene McDonald and her twin Corrine McDonald-Mills, meet at a ritzy hotel in California for their thirty-fifth birthday after years of separation. Their reunion is short-lived when Corrine is murdered and Charlene is left in a coma. Tyler Mills is the CEO of Mills Shipping Company. He finds himself in a state of shock when he learns that his wife, whom he had planned to divorce, is in a coma and may not live.

LIES IN DISGUISE is a story of mistaken identity, trafficking and second chances. The majority of the story takes place in California, with a trip to Chesapeake, Virginia. The plot is intriguing and the cast of characters are highly entertaining. The main characters learn that there is such a thing as a second chance at love.

Ms. Layton has written a great romantic suspense that I think most readers will enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars BRAVO!!!!!, April 21, 2011

This review is from: Lies In Disguise (Indigo) (Paperback)

Wow.. I'm lost for words. Talking about an EXCELLENT suspense/romance story. This book started off with excitement and remained that way to the end. I have enjoyed Corrine, Charlene and Tyler story and I know you will to if you read this book. I have read so many books with no depth, underdeveloped characters and your typical storyline. You will not find that here. I have to give praise to Ms. Layton for a job very well done. I felt immensely satisfied after reading this book. I definitely will be reading this again!

Amazon noted... " Only 8 left in stock-order soon". After reading Lies in Disguise, I can see why there are only 8 books left in stock. I can tell you Amazon will be ordering more to replace their stock due to demand.
This is the authors best book thus far. I couldn't put the book down from the moment I started to read it. Lies in Disguise is an excellent read!

CROSSING THE LINE
by Bernice Layton

Genre: Multicultural, Romantic suspense

RT Rating

This fast-paced, intelligent and funny romance doesn't take any prisoners. The action starts on the first page and does not let up until the bad guy is no longer a threat. Getting there is all the fun.

After Raina Wade witnesses a triple murder, she begins a cross-country odyssey in the company of Pittsburgh detective Nicholas Laprelli. Nick has been assigned to escort Raina and her father, a former police chief, to Seattle. Nick and Raina are like oil and water, but neither is willing to back down. Nick's partner was murdered by the same killer Raina saw, which makes this case all the more personal. As they take their journey, a killer is on their trail, and they'll need all their wits about them to stay alive. (GENESIS/INDIGO LOVE SPECTRUM, Apr., 427 pp., $6.99)

I really enjoyed this book. It was part mystery romance and had some comical parts. Both main characters were really strong and yet sensitive and vulnerable when it caused for it. Over 400 pages I felt I got my moneys worth Layton went into nice detail. The only issue that I had which is very minor is that I felt Raina did too much she was an artist could sing play baseball fish decorator fashion designer mentor at the church and so on but like I said not a big deal. I also didn't think it was logical that it would take this killer almost 6 hours

This review is from: Crossing The Line (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Paperback)

This was an excellent book. The best Indigo Love Spectrum Book that I've read. The story was very well-written and BOTH characters were likable. There wasn't one who you really liked and the other whom you really wanted to strangle. Both people gave and took in equal measure, and BOTH of them were willing to apologize when they did something wrong. I could go on and on about what I liked, but I won't. Suffice it to say that this book is totally worth your money. 5 Stars, Highly Recommended.

I cannot get into Cop stories but I love Crossing the Line. Nick was sexy, stupid, and kind, Riana was smart, loving, and resourceful. It was a wonderful interracial love story that kept it real. The plot was smooth and kept you guessing. I loved it Kudos to Bernice.

Great Book, April 18, 2010

This review is from: Crossing The Line (Indigo Love Spectrum) (Paperback)

This book was so very good. I rate books based on whether I connect with the characters and I just loved Nick and Raina. He was not arrogant as you see so many male characters and she was smart, yet vunerable. They were genuine characters and you could feel their sincere love. The secondary characters only added to this story. There was enough mystery and intrigue interwoven. Very, very good book!
